there are a lot of steps jp and it differs from department as well as state i would imagine.everyone has interviews next week which count for another possible 20 points then they start background checks.the list is good for three years if you pass everything so you never really know when you could get a call.
i tested this summer for the other department near me and the process went as follows written test, physical test(26 push ups in a min,29 sit ups in a min, mile and a half run in under 15:30),,interview with detective conducting my background check, turned in a copy of all of my hospital records and grades in high school and college, interview with the detective and my parents, detective walked around my neighborhood talked to my neighbors about me,reference checks, mug shots/pics of my arm tattoos and fingerprinting as well as them looking at my facebook and myspace accounts, psych test, polygraph. i havent gotten a rejection letter so i believe i am still in the running but no word.before being hired i would also have to have a physical.two people i know that work for this department said it was 1 1/2 years before they were hired after testing. |
wow, long process.
here in canada it kinda differ. But, i would say your physical test is pretty easy!
Here for a perfect score, you would need to do 10+ pullups which isnt that much, but still need a bit of strength. The tatoo thing is kinda weird tho, i mean unless its visible, who cares?
Good clue about facebook and myspace, i might have to clean some weird comments i get when i start testing here.
Well, i wish you good luck.

yeah jp.it was kinda weird i have "friends" on myspace that i dont really know that post about dumb stuff.i was just hoping for no dumb posts about doing drugs or anything.they didnt look at it all that long and did it in front of me.as for the physical, yes it is easy and even more so now.when i tested Saturday they had lowered the push ups to 18 from 26 and the first time i tested here the 1.5 mile was in 14:50 and now its 15:30.they keep relaxing the standards.not to be a dick but i would say it is for equal opportunity so more girls can get in or out of shape guys for that matter.the standards just get set at whatever you have to have to get into the state academy at the time.you have to do the same test the day you get there and again at the end to test out before graduation.in my state if you are going to be a state policeman you attend the academy for 7.5 months mon-fri and you go home on the weekends.for basic officers(anything be state i.e. county, city) you attend for 15 weeks same schedule as state and same academy but train in a separate class.
