My main motive for getting legs down is to be able to kick and run harder for soccer.

awesome thanks!

I couldn't find much specifics in what sorta workouts to do. Can anyone help me build a workout program? I typically go 3-4 times a week with a soccer game twice a week (full 90 minutes). What I lift at the gym is very typical things, curls, bench, squats, nothing too unique so perhaps I'm going at it wrong? I do 4 sets of 8-10 reps. I am currently pretty out of shape, 6'1", 209lbs. I want to most of all get in good shape and become lean. I figure might as well train towards something I love doing, soccer, at the same time! I only have those 3 times a week, maybe 4 max, to workout so I can't do anything too hardcore. Any programs you can suggest? Thanks!

5x5 is strength. I thought you were looking for strength.

Sorry I'm confusing myself. I would like strength in my legs but my highest priority is to lose weight. I thought perhaps I could go for strength only on my leg days? Is this possible or perhaps i'm trying to do too much?

Do the program and perform all the other exercises using Tabatha method. You will get plenty of aerobic exercise trust me. If you do not know how Tabatha works, you perform reps for 20 seconds, rest 10 seconds and then repeat for 4 minutes. You complete 8 sets and will be sucking wind big time by the time you are done. You use 55-60% of your one rep max.

I would follow the 5 x 5 exactly for the legs and deadlift protions of the program.

I never said I wanted to spot reduce. I said I wanted to lose fat but focus on gaining muscle in my legs as well.

Hi Phoenixhazard.
I am Jackbency and i want to say first that you have to make your working out schedule and you must do as your working schedule and you have better option also that you should go in Jim. You will lose your weight or fat from thigh after 4 or 5 month. Don't worry but please make tight schedule for them.
Thank you very much for sharing this.
