I'm 342 lbs. Not every person thats fat is fat because they over eat, sometimes it's being raised in a society that has fast food, processed foods, sugary drinks, all you can eat buffets etc.

It's honestly no different than tobacco companies, who do you blame for the addiction, the buyer or the company putting the addicting products into the tobacco?

Or what about the pharmuceutical companies that are backing the senator trying to make it harder for our supplements?

Or the doctors that prescribe the addicting pain medicine, and just keep renewing the prescription.

Now I'm not giving excuses for people being fat, hell I've eaten unhealthy, never ate my veggies, and grew up with grandparents that were to sick to let me play outside as a kid, so I'm fat but I'm changing that and I have reciepts to show and prove that for $100 i'll get almost 3 times the amount of junk food as I would for healthy food.

How man of you made fun of the fat kid in school, and how many of you have reached out and offered to work out with them?

I'm not trying to be condeming or self-righteous, and the fact is there are some people who are just fat because they won't change. but honestly how can you tell the difference between ad fat guy that just won't change, and a fat guy thats trying to change?

There is only two ways society can handle something like this, that is compassion or we can continue to condemn and dehumanize them for their plight. We've been doing the latter, and it hasn't worked.

How does this sound. "thats an extra $200 for being african american, or a female."

Its not the fault of the society, its the fault of the individual. You make the choice. wether or not you were not educated about making good food choices is unfortunate. But may be, when you come to the realisation that you are not like other kids you should be seeking help and see whats wrong.

We all have that kind of situation in our life where we arent happy at all with something and we review it and see how we can improve our life with a solution.
This what the most successful people do. trying to find a way to improve.

Its not like the companies came to your house and force feeded them their junk and i admit you probably had no control on your eating until you were in the teens. But, really, what stopped you at that moment to seek help ?

And, i dont want you to feel bad or whatever, im just trying to show the other side of the medal.

Good luck for your health quest.

It doesnt take more resources to move a person different race.

And personally I dont buy the 'its corporate america's fault' excuse. Thats preety weak.

I'm not saying it's society's fault alone, but it's a growing epidemic.it's a half and half situation honestly, society could better educate children which would become healthy adults raising healthy kids etc etc etc.

There's no right side in this argument, but what I'm really interested in is stats that reflect the percentage of obese in the low middle and high income classes.I have a strong feeling that the lower the income, the high the obesity percentage would be.

There is contradiction everywhere. Its up to you to decide what youw ant to be.

Victor hugo said it best. People do not lack strength, they lack will.

The buyer.

Like I said before though, this is a subject that has no right answer. I do agree that they have a right to recoup the cost of the modifications from somewhere.

It might not be the persons fault for being fat, but I believe its their fault for staying fat.lol

I really find it more and more humerous how people think the government should step in and curb peoples appetite.

Bad society, bad! How dare you have something that could be enjoybale and even tasty in moderation. Take responsibility for yourself!

And Will. Why should it be free? How do you support free service? Explain

Medical care should be available to all people. Its a simple idea.
The concept that people have to bring credit cards to hospitals is sickening.
But thats just my opinion and all I will say on the subject. (I've seen how paranoid americans are about health care so im excluding myself from the upcoming debate)

Government has no business, in healthcare. Americans need to stop thinking that everything is going to be provided for them. Healthcare is a very important issue. That's a no brianer! But giving government control over all of our healthcare is a completely absurd idea.

Healthcare should be made afforable, yes. But it should be u p to the individual wither or not they get it. There are people out there that have nice cars, go on vacations, have all the new toys but complain they can't afford healthcare. Maybe they should tighten the budget at home and prioritise things.

Also for those that say they can not afford to be treated I say horshit. There are plenty of doctors out there that actually work with the underpriveleged and provide available healthcare as well as those who are always looking for people to try and explore new medicines and practices for xetremely cheap or (God forbid I say it) FREE!

Yea, I'm out of this conversation as well.

Too many differing opinions, and I won't make myself a target. Good day.

Wow this convo has turned into a bit more than I expected. Well, not from Will, but thats just because he's Canadian Very Happy

I honestly do not see how it can be society's fault. It is the individual who has control over him/herself. Does society say "YOU BETTER EAT THIS DOUBLE QUARTER POUNDER WITH CHEESE OR FACE THE ELECTRIC CHAIR!!!?" Dont think so.
